A considered start

An initial conversation helps us understand the support you are looking for. We then consider service suitability, assessment, practical arrangements and funding before a start date is agreed. Care and support are reviewed as needs change.

Starting care and understanding the cost

Start by telling the relevant team what support you are looking for and the area where it is needed. Suitability depends on assessment, the service’s registration and available arrangements. An enquiry does not guarantee a placement or start date.

Care may be paid for privately, through a local authority or under another agreed funding arrangement. Your local authority can advise on assessment and possible funding; an enquiry to Care Givers does not determine entitlement.

If you pay for all or part of your care, you should receive written information about the service, fees, payment arrangements and contractual terms, as far as reasonably practicable before care begins. If a fixed price cannot be given, ask for a written estimate explaining likely additional costs.

Before agreeing, check visit length and frequency, staffing needs, travel or other extras, invoicing, cancellations, notice periods and how changes in your needs affect the price. Ask the team to explain anything unclear. Your individual written agreement should set out the terms that apply to you.
